The Dr. Murray vs Michael Jackson Trial

LOS ANGELES – The moment the Dr. Murray vs. Michael Jackson trial began on Tuesday, jury were taken aback by being shown the late singer’s corpse. The image was taken immediately after Michael Jackson was pronounced dead.

Dr. Conrad Murray, Michael Jackson’s personal physician at the time of the pop star’s death is accused of “killing” M.J. by homicide of negligence. Dr. Murray pleads not guilty.

On the first day of the trial the jury was also given voice fragments to listen to belonging to the late Jackson, who in the recording could barely make out a sentences because he was under the influence of a substance at the time the conversation was recorded on May 10th 2009.

Outside the court their were protestors against Dr. Murray calling him a criminal. Other demonstrators were pro the doctor and expressed their believe in the doctor’s innocent.

Dr. Conrad Murray is accused of administering Jackson a deadly doses of the narcotic medicine Propofol on June 25th 2009. The medicine was intended to calm Jackson down and help him sleep better.

Prosecutor David Walgren said during the opening statement that Jackson did “wrong” by trusting Dr. Murray.

According to Walgren, Jackson placed his life in the hands of the doctor and that “misplaced” trust cost Jackson his life.

“The acts and neglects by Michael Jackson’s personal physician Conrad Murray have led to the premature death of the superstar,” said Walgren to the jury.

Murray was hired to take care of Jackson by the promoters of the up and coming live show in London that M.J. had scheduled in 2009. For his services, Murray was allegedly paid $150,000 per month.

The defense is expected to counter attack the prosecutor’s claims by stating that Jackson was an addict by revealing that other doctors prior to Dr. Murray had already administered large doses of narcotics to Jackson and that Conrad Murray was trying to “ween” Jackson off the medicine.

The King of Pop’s parents, Joe and Katherine and several siblings attended the opening trial, including sister Janet Jackson, who extended a music tour to be able to be at the trial.

The entire trial is said to last about one month. Dr. Conrad Murray could face 4 years imprisonment if found guilty.
