OSLO – A massive bomb explodes in downtown Oslo, killing seven, injuring several more, leaving behind a war-like path of destruction.  Only moments later, an unidentified man goes on a shooting rampage at a youth camp, killing at least 20 kids.

THE FACTS:

- Downtown Oslo bomb explodes near government building
- 7 people killed, several others light to seriously wounded
- Bomb possibly contained in vehicle parked outside building
- Moments before the blast witnesses saw same vehicle racing through downtown Oslo
- Bombing occurred near gov. building of Finances and Oil
- Building severely damaged in blast
- Downtown Oslo destruction is war like and chaotic
- Moments after bomb explodes deadly shooting occurs on Utoya Island
- Island occupied by 560 teens spending 5 days summer camp – yearly event
- 25 to 30 teens shot dead
- Norwegian man most likely responsible for both attacks
- Same man spotted at both locations only moments apart
- Man entered island dressed in police uniform, posing as a security investigator
- Allegedly man has been arrested – Norwegian police does not confirm this
- Norwegian police states Oslo bombing and Utoya shooting are related
- Ansar al-Jihad al-Alami claims responsibility for the attacks
- Reason: Norway has army present in Afghanistan
- Both attacks possibly aimed at Premier Jens Stoltenberg
- Building targeted in Oslo housed Premier’s office
- Premier was scheduled to speak at Utoya Island
- Premier is now in hideout
- Norwegian King Harald V also in hideout – precautionary measure
- Norwegian border security has been reinforced since attacks
- Oslo airport operates normally but with major delays
- Tourists and non-Norwegians on business have been asked to return to their countries
- Norwegian army is assisting police
- Bomb sniffing dogs have been employed to patrol downtown
- Police presence have been increased at hospitals and police headquarters in Oslo
- Police is now in charge of luggage checking at Oslo airport
- This is the first time Norway has been under terrorist attacks
- Mehtab Afsar, secretary general of the Islamic Council in Norway has offered condolences.
“This is our country, this is my country.  I condemn these attacks and the Islamic Council condemns them too,” Afsar said
- NATO, Euro Nation and America have also expressed sorrow and sympathy and offered strength and courage to Norwegians.
