GOLAN HEIGHTS – In a mass demonstration against Israel, thousands stormed the fence at the Israeli - Palestinian border.
What would have been a day of remembrance on Sunday turned out into a massive, violent and deadly demonstration against Israel.
Thousands of Arabs came from Syria and Lebanon to join the Palestinians in celebrating Nabka, a day set aside each year on May 15th to remember the hundreds of thousands of Palestinians who were driven out by Israel.
The enormous crowd pushed against the fence that separates Israel and Palestine. Several hundred of the demonstrators broke through. Israelian security were instructed to ‘halt’ the mob.
The angry crowd retaliated, using stones, bottles and anything that could be used as a projectile and flung them through the air. Fires were set to parked vehicles. Israelian police opened fire, killing at least 20 Palestinians and injuring dozens more.

Violence erupted at the Israeli - Palestinian borders resulting in many people getting seriously wounded or killed from gunfire by Israeli army
The most violent protest took place near Golan Heights where thousands of Palestinians crossed the heavily guarded border into Israel for the first time after many decades.
Here too Israel’s stronghold opened fire, killing and injuring several protesters. The rebellion against Israel spread to Tel Aviv, the West Jordan border, parts of East-Jerusalem and the Gaza strip.
The Israelian army also opened fire along the Israelian – Lebanese border killing ten more Palestinians and injuring at least 70.
Even though it’s been more than 60 years (1948) since Nabka, millions of Palestinians still live in refugee camps along the Israelian borders.
According to the United Nations at least 4,8 million Palestinians reside in Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, the Gaza strip and along the West Jordan border.
