BIRMINGHAM – More than 161 extremely violent storms have ravaged through the United States southern region, destroying thousands of homes and killing hundreds of people.
Tuscalooza, Alabama has been especially hit hard by a swirl of tornadoes some storm chaser say were a mile long. The wind velocity of those storm was so strong that large construction pieces were spotted spinning high off the ground in the turbine like winds.
The destruction is enormous. already more than 250 people have lost their lives and more than one thousand homes and buildings have been destroyed. Authorities believe that the death toll will rise as more bodies will most likely be discovered under the mountains of debris scattered everywhere.
Alabama, Mississippi and Tennessee are the three southern states were the tornadoes caused the most damage. Authorities said that 130 people have been killed in Alabama, 32 in Tennessee and 30 more in Mississippi.
In the North of Texas, the same region that had devastating forest fires just recently, 50 tornadoes blasted through destroying a lot of property.
Arkansas, Kentucky, Mississippi, Missouri and Oklahoma suffered major damage as well. President Barack Obama has declared a state of emergency over all eight states. The National Guards have been asked to assist with the rescue efforts.
Authorities believe that in total some 21 states could experience violent storms and tornadoes before the season is over; that’s an area stretching from the Great Lakes in Michigan to the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic coast.
Each year tornadoes create destruction and chaos in America. Especially in the region of what is known as ‘Tornado Alley‘, violent storms are almost a part of daily life.
Scientists state however, that given the large number of tornadoes that have already touched ground in the U.S., violent storms are growing in size and in frequency which will lead to more destructions and human lives lost in the coming years.

8 states have been slammed by massive tornadoes resulting in wide-spread destruction of properties and deaths.
They blame the increase of storms on heating up of the planet. The greenhouse effect that keeps the planes warmer allows storms to grow larger in size and develop into violent air tunnels capable of wiping out entire towns.
