NEW YORK – Jailing of the French diplomat Dominique Strauss-Kahn in a New York prison, who stands accused of sexual abuse and rape, has the French Socialistic Party seeing red.
The Frenchman who is being held without bail until his next court appearance on May 20th, for allegedly attacking and trying to force a chambermaid of the Sofitel Hotel in Manhattan New York, to have sex with him, was to be the French Socialistic Party’s top man to take over President Sarkozy’s chair in 2012.
Members of the French party are raging mad at the American Justice for detaining their top gun without bail and at the American media for making a ‘mockery’ out of their party, their country and one of their most revered politicians.
Former French Minister of Culture Jack Lang stated that the U.S. Justice Department is using the Dominique Strauss-Kahn case for political reasons. Robert Badinter, a former French judge agrees with Mr. Lang, saying “the American Media ‘killed’ DSK!”.
Other party members expressed their anger with the demeaning pictures the American media released about DSK.

French politicians are outraged that the U.S. justice system allows the media to release images of their top man looking frazzled and unshaven
In the United States, public defenders are elected by the public and a former U.S. judge admitted that public defenders are tougher on ‘high-profile’ cases because winning such case will ultimately result in more votes.
An American lawyer says that the U.S. media always has a field day with high-profile sexual cases because it means higher ratings. ”Such was the case with deceased Michael Jackson and former boxing champ Mike Tyson,” said the lawyer, who didn’t want to be identified.
“There is a sort of theatrical element in the whole thing,” according to the lawyer.
In France, making images public of accused individuals is against the law. The French media isn’t allowed to show pictures of a hand-cuffed, unshaven (as were shown of DSK) suspect until the individual is found guilty.
In the United States however, the excessive exposure the media gives to a legal case, could potentially determine the outcome of a trial. Anyone accused of any crime in the U.S. is fair game by the media for public display, unless the judge presiding over the case forbids it.
The media’s relentless pursuit to put a legal case in the spotlight is especially true when the case in question involves a high-profile suspect such as Dominique Strauss-Kahn.
