59 year old Ayman Al-Zawahiri has been nominated by the al-Qaeda terrorist network as their new number one man.
Zawahiri follows up Osama Bin Laden, who was killed May 2 2011 by U.S. special forces, as the new leader of terrorist group.
Despite the Egyptian doctor’s title being thus far only ceremonial, already the new leader made this promise to his terrorist pack:
“We will continue with the jihad until we driven off all invaders from all Muslim countries.”
Ayman Al-Zawahiri
Zawahiri joined al-Qaeda in 1984 and became Osama Bin Laden’s right hand man for most of his reign as the al-Qaeda leader and was in reality considered to be the brain behind the deadly worldly attacks, including the bombing of the New York Trade Center.
But experts predict that the al-Qaeda network may not flourish like it did under the charismatic leadership of Bin Laden.
Zawahiri is a no nonsense, deep thinking individual who doesn’t have the ‘popularity’ vote from some of the al-Qaeda members and stipulations abound he may be dethroned by rivalry.
Yet it doesn’t stop the new public enemy no. 1 from saying that:
“The man who while he lived instilled the fear of death
in America, will continue to do so even in death!”
As the middle-east is slowly turning to free itself from the once considered to be prime state of being to demanding a secular democracy, Zawahiri does have his work cut out to keep the al-Qaeda network alive.
al-Qaeda’s hopes for a global Islamic caliphate have been badly dented by protesters in Zawahiri’s own homeland who helped inspire calls for popular government all over the Middle East after ousting dictator Hosni Mubarak
And while a war is waging in Libya, it is democracy supporters and not Islamists who are fighting to remove Al Qaeda enemy Colonel Muammar Gaddafi.
