According to The Guardian, the two US veterans reported as ‘special advisers’ to the highest ranking officials in Washington.
Reportedly, war veteran Colonel James Steele, who was active in Iraq between 2003 and 2008, reportedly directly to Minister of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, while colonel James Coffman reportedly directly to then General David Petraeus, who later became director of the CIA.
No proof has been submitted that the two Americans assisted with the torture but indications are they visited the prison camp several times.
The Guardian also claims that its investigation reveals that the United States government paid millions for the prison camp where some of the most gruesome tortures took place while the US occupied Iraq.
The US and the new Iraqi Government were trying to crush a
Sunnis rebellion, the population group of ex-president Saddam Hussein.
