Several schools and Federal offices have been closed and 2,600 flights have been cancelled. And yet weather forecasters say worse weather could still come Wednesday afternoon as the air cooled and the snow grew heavier.

Governor Bob McDonnell declared a state of emergency in Virginia and said that 170,000 people were without power, especially along the Interstate 81 corridor, which tracks the western border of Virginia.
4,000 salt trucks and plows set out to clear roads throughout northern Virginia.
The storm originated in Montana and moved east over the Ohio Valley, dropping 6 inches of snow on Chicago on Tuesday.
Experts are predicting the storm is heading towards New York.
