TORONTO – According to Canadian researchers, Mother Theresa, who gave her life for the poor and has been declared a Saint by the Vatican, wasn’t all that ‘holy’ after all.

Reportedly, the good nun ‘misplaced’ millions of the money she received from donations and charities and kept tight relationships with individuals and organizations of dubious character.

The ‘Times of India’ writes that Mother Theresa, who worked in Calcutta and allegedly sacrificed her life for the poorest of the poor, was far from the ‘kind of mother’ she appeared to be.

Canadian researchers published their findings about Mother Theresa in ‘Réligieuses’; a French magazine that deals with religious research and science.

The report shows that the nun didn’t perform her work to help the poor but to pay homage to them.

She prayed religiously for them but was very tight fisted and greedy when it came to spending the millions she collected. Mother Theresa allegedly transferred huge sums of money to secret bank accounts.

Dr. Serge Larivée and Dr. Geneviève Chenard of the Montreal University in Canada have studied and analyzed over 300 documents which paint the picture of a nun who is in clear contrast with the image of Mother Theresa.

In the documents, the researchers found that around the time of Mother Theresa’s death there were 517 homes in existence that offered shelter to the poorest of the poor.

But when theses homes were visited by outsiders, they found the houses were filthy, lacked food, medicine and man power.

Investigators said, shortage of money was not the reason the homes were dirty and lacked even basic necessities because Mother Theresa received hundreds of millions of dollars from donations.

And when Mother Theresa became ill, she was treated in a modern, state-of-the art hospital in the United States.

The researchers also questioned the ‘viability’ of Mother Theresa’s miracle, which is one requirement by the Vatican to be nominated a Saint.

The miracle reportedly occurred when a sick woman got cured after she prayed holding a medallion with a picture of Mother Theresa.

Doctors who treated the sick woman have stated time and again that their continuous good medical care and excellent medicine were what made the woman’s cyst and tuberculosis disappear; not prayers.

Researcher Larivée says: “Mother Theresa’s popularity was so enormous that she was untouchable. She was already declared a Saint at the time these documents leaked.”

The documents also revealed that Mother Theresa received funds from corrupted politicians such as the former Haitian dictator Duvalier, who ruled Haiti from 1957 – 1986 and was responsible for the death of more than 30,000 Haitians.
