“During this challenging time of the death of president Hugo Chávez, the United States confirms its support for the Venezuelan people and the importance of developing a constructive relationship with the Venezuelan Government.”
Obama added:
“Now that Venezuela is to begin a new chapter of its history, the United States is committed to the policy, democratic principles, the rule of law and respect for human rights.”
No one of the Venezuelan leading party, currently headed by Vice President Nicolas Maduro responded to President Obama’s statement.
