Army leaders appeared on national TV in Venezuela on Tuesday and announced they fully support Maduro and the Venezuelan Parliament.
Nicolas Maduro was appointed by Hugo Chavez as ‘the new man that should rule Venezuela’ after his death.
Although Venezuelan elections were just held in October last year, Chavez’ death opens the door for the country to have new presidential elections.
If new presidential elections are conducted, Nicolas Maduro will have to ‘battle it out’ for presidency of Venezuela with his party opposition Henrique Capriles. Capriles lost against Chavez last year during the October elections.
On Tuesday, Capriles called on all Venezuelan to come together, stay united and remain peaceful.
He offered his condolences to the Chavez’ family and the supporters of the former Venezuelan president.
