All songs on the vinyl record were recorded between 1968 and 1970 and were originally intended to appear on Hendrix’ album ‘First Days Of The New Rising Sun’; the album he was working on when he died in 1970.

Jimi Hendrix created the new songs in collaboration with new musicians, including Stephen Stills of Buffalo Springfield and drummer Buddy Miles.
