MIAMI – Jeff Bush simply ‘vanished’ on Thursday when a use sinkhole suddenly appeared under his bedroom near Tampa Florida, swallowing him up.

His brother Jeremy Bush heard Jeff scream at 11 PM and rushed to his brother’s room only a few feet away from his.
Jeremy said it only took seconds for him to get to Jeff’s room. He jumped in the hole but quickly found himself neck deep in dirt.
“The floor was still giving in and the dirt was still going down, but I didn’t care. I wanted to save my brother,” he said. “But I just couldn’t do nothing.”
“He was screaming my name. I could swear I heard him hollering my name to help him,” Jeremy said.

Hillsborough County sheriff’s deputy had to help Jeremy get out of the enormous hole when they arrived.
“I reached down and was able to actually get him by his hand and pull him out of the hole. The hole was collapsing. At that time, we left the house,” Deputy Douglas Duval said.
Firemen lowered special equipment into the sinkhole but couldn’t find Jeff Bush either. On Friday police declared Jeff ‘presumably dead’.
According Jessica Damico, spokeswoman for to Hillsborough County Fire Rescue, there was nothing left of the bedroom.
“There was no furniture. All he saw was a piece of the mattress sticking up,” she said.
“We put engineering equipment into the sinkhole and didn’t see anything compatible with life,” Damico said. “The entire house is on the sinkhole.”
Engineers investigating the sinkhole said the size of the hole was at least 30 feet wide in the floor and at least 100 feet wide below the bedroom floor.
Neighbors on both sides of the home have been evacuated.
