pope benedictus XVI cleaned up the church

Buendia, who is the Apostolic Nuncio for Kazachstan, Kirgizia and Tadzjikistan, wasn’t shy about making his statement during a conference in Madrid, Spain.

He added that thanks to the Pope “a bunch of cardinals who were incompetent” or “unworthy of the Office” have been told to step down.

Buendia says the Pope ‘fired’ as many as two to three Cardinals per month. Either their dioceses were a “mess” or their discipline a “disaster”.

The Nuncio said that most Cardinals when confronted by the Pope went voluntarily but a few refused to step down and the Pope simple fired them.

Pope Benedictus XVI will officially step down on Thursday February 28 at 8:00 PM local time. He has signed a decree that states that the conclave can start an early ‘new Pope election’ if all voting Cardinals are present.

Cardinal Angelo Sodano, Deacon of the College of Cardinals, will conduct the first congregation on March 1 preceding the conclave.

The congregations can last one week however. Speculations are that the Roman Catholic Church will have a new Pope by March 19th.
