(NDJ) – Mercury, the planet located closest to our sun isn’t as ‘boring’ as was first thought. In a video released by NASA – see below -, Mercury displays an array of colors that are fascinating to watch.

NASA made the colorful short video using images of Mercury forwarded to the agency by Messenger. To the human eye, the hot planet looks a lot less colorful.
NASA managed to increase Mercury’s color perception by sharpening the colors to indicate the different types of surfaces that exist on the planet.
Messenger has been circling around Mercury for almost 2 years and took in excess of 168,000 pictures of the planet, allowing NASA to use the still pictures to make 99 percent of the planet visible.
The missing 1 percent are the very top and bottom views.
