LONDON – British Premier David Cameron is encouraging US President Barack Obama to leave his wife Michelle at home when he travels to Great Britain to attend to ‘G8 Summit‘ in July.

The G8 – ‘Group of Eight’ is for the governments of eight of the world’s wealthiest countries. The forum originated with a 1975 summit hosted by France.
Premier Cameron has expressed he does not want any wives present at the summit to ensure the world leaders remain focused on topics such as tax evasion during the summit he considers to be one of the most important gatherings in the world.
If Cameron’s plan works President Barack Obama from the US and President Hollande from France will leave their women at home.
Cameron’s wife, First Lady Samantha, has agreed not to schedule any activities for the attendees’ wives during the G8 summit.
Should world leaders not agree with Premier Cameron’s request and bring their wives to the summit anyway, Samantha Cameron has been instructed to organize a modest luncheon for the women but nothing more.
A spokesperson for the British Premier explains that “Cameron wants to see to it that the top leaders have a small, private, intimate and structured meeting that will address tax evasion, transparency and trade”.
