BIG BEAR – The charred remains found inside the burned out cabin in Big Bear have not yet been properly identified as belonging to ex-LAPD cop Christopher Dorner.

With guns blazing, Dorner locked himself inside a wooden log house in Big Bear, about 2 hrs east of Los Angeles. Surrounded by more than 200 police officers a gun battle ensued. LAPD threw smoke bombs into the cabin, that put the wooden structure on fire.

But Dorner didn’t come out. As the cabin engulfed in flames, and the fire became more intense, LAPD began to wonder if he was even still in the cabin.
Hours later, with the wooden structure burned to the ground, investigators searched through the ashes and found the remains of a person, they hope is Christopher Dorner.
Police did not say on Tuesday whether or not the body found in the burned-out cabin was Dorner. The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said in a statement on Tuesday that identification would be attempted “through forensic means.”
At this point no one knows for sure if Christopher Dorner is really dead and if the remains found in the cabin are really his.
Los Angeles mayor said in a statement “It looks like we have our man!”; a rather dubious expression from the spokesperson for the LAPD, an organization known for being thorough and meticulous.
Christopher Dorner, the former LAPD cop, is accused of killing four people and engaging cops in a deadly standoff.
