Dafne, from the town of Zapopan, was merely 8 years 3 months old when she was impregnated by a 17 year old male. “We can’t find him, he fled,” the mother of the girl tells Mexican media.
Police are now involved with finding the teenager who made the girl pregnant. “He’s responsible for this. We need to hear his side of the story. The girl doesn’t understand the seriousness of it all,” said Jorge Villaseñor, a co-worker for the local prosecutor.
“More than likely we are dealing with a sexual abuse case,” Villaseñor added.
Dafne gave birth on January 27th to a girl. Both she and her baby are doing well but doctors are carefully monitoring the progress of the newborn considering Dafne’s age.
Dafne was not allowed to undergo an abortion because of her age.
