LONDON – Scotland Yard tasered a man standing in front of Buckingham Palace, London, wielding a big survival knife, in plain view of tourists.

The man swung the knife around while holding yet another knife at his own throat. But before he could hurt himself, or anyone else, police overpowered him; first they tasered him then they a dozen Metropolitan Police officers jumped him.

The scene unfolded during Changing of the Guards, a popular tourist attraction in London that usually attracts a huge crowd to watch the ceremony.
A police spokesperson told the BBC that the man was not a threat but “was asked to explain his actions”. “He then became aggressive and was sub-sequentially Tasered.”
Witnesses said police acted swiftly and justly.
“He yelled all sorts of things but you couldn’t understand what he was saying,” one witness told The Telegraph.
Eyewitness Kevin Burrows told The Telegraph: “Suddenly he ran into the direction of the palace, that’s when they tasered him.”
Queen Elizabeth and her husband Prince Philip were not at Buckingham Palace at the time the drama unfolded. They are presently staying at their royal retreat in Sandringham.
