Husband Finds Unknown Body In Wife’s Coffin

Michael and his daughter Leota, who live in Capetown, South Africa, wanted to see Magdalene, who died of a heart attack last Saturday, one final time before they bury her.

When they arrived at the mortuary they went to the place where a small service for his wife was being held. But when Michael opened the coffin to kiss his wife goodbye, he saw the body of an unknown woman.

“Right away I knew something was wrong, that woman didn’t look anything like my Magdelene,” Michael said. “Even my daughter said ‘that’s not mama’”.

Michael said he was deeply shocked by the incident and his daughter now suffers from traumatic stress.

When Michael confronted the mortuary staff about the serious mistake, they first insisted that the woman in the coffin was his wife.

Later on they recanted their story saying they had accidentally opened up the wrong cooler and placed the ‘unknown woman’ in the coffin belonging to Michael’s wife.

The staff said that when they informed the funeral director about it, he insisted to continue with the service.

Since the incident, Magdelene’s body has been located at an other mortuary, where it was shipped instead of the other woman.

The mortuary company has offered their apologies to Michael and his daughter for the embarrassing mix up and promised a second goodbye service would be held, this time with Michael’s ‘real’ wife laying in the coffin.
