16 year old Nicole Wignall and her friends from Lancaster have no school because of utterly bad winter weather devastating a great part of the U.K..
Nicole and her friends decided to pass the time by creating a huge snowball and role it up a hill. When the teens got the large and heavy snowball on top of the hill, they sat down to take a break.
Suddenly the ball started the slowly roll from the hilltop down the slope, gradually picking up speed and get bigger in size as more snow stuck to the ball.
Wignall’s friends managed to jump out of harms way but Nicole didn’t. She says she froze and couldn’t move when she saw the huge snowball rolling ever faster towards her.
The snowball eventually rolled on top of Nicole and dragged her down the hill, smashing her full force against a brick wall. The impact broke the teenager’s hips.
“I was in excruciating pain and couldn’t move my legs,” Nicole says.
Nicole’s mother Fiona (38), says her daughter is lucky to be alive. “The snowball was the size of a small car.”
Nicole was taken to the hospital were doctors determined she suffered a four fold hip fracture. She’ll have to stay at the hospital at least until March. Then she’ll have to spend several weeks in a wheelchair followed by months of physical therapy.
