LISBON – A bus accident in Central Portugal on Sunday leaves 10 people dead and 33 others injured.

Bad weather and slick road conditions are the blame for the accident that occurred about 8:45AM local time. In less than 2 hours more than 250 firemen, 88 vehicles and one helicopter, were at the scene to assist with the rescue efforts.

Local authorities state that the injured victims were taken to several hospitals located in the vicinity of the accident.
Portuguese media reports that the people on board the bus were part of an excursion.
Police are still investigating the cause of the accident, although bad weather and slick roads have been partially blamed for causing the deadly incident.
