BALI – Cocaine smuggler Lindsay Sandiford from the U.K., has been transported to the prison of Kerobokan, nicknamed “the prison of hell”.

The British grandma was sentenced to die by firing squad after she was found guilty for smuggling 4.8 kilos of cocaine from Thailand to Bali, Indonesia last May.

Sandiford lawyer said they will appeal the verdict, which can take years. Until that time Sandiford must try to survive in the prison of hell were she shares a dark room with fourteen other women convicted of crimes.
In Kerobokan, even basic human needs are considered an utter luxury, and once you have them, keeping them often means having to fight for it … with your life.
The women sleep together on one mattress dumped on a cold floor. There are no bathrooms, no toilets and no showers. A bucket with water is the only luxury the prisoners get and they must use that bucket for everything. The food is horrible.
Most of the inmates that share Sandifords room are hardcore drug dealers, prostitutes or theft. They often steal each others belongings and drug use is rampant in the Kerobokan prison.
Expecting anyone to come to your aid or getting even the slightest bit of sympathy from a prison guard is signing your own death warrant.
In the prison of hell, it truly is “survival of the fittest”. Only the meanest, bulliest and most aggressive prisons have a chance of making it through the day.
And yet, Lindsay Sandiford can consider herself lucky for the prison of Kerobokan is one of the “better” prisons in Indonesia.
Lindsay Sandiford is one of four women on death row in Kerobokan. It her death penalty stays, she will be executed by a firing squad; 12 soldiers of which 3 have live ammunition while the other soldiers shoot with blanks. Thereby avoiding that soldiers know who killed her.
Sandiford may be tied down to a pole and she may have a cap placed over her head. A light will shine over her heart area given soldiers a clear target. Executions take place at a deserted location in the midst of the night.
The last time someone was put to death by firing squad in Indonesia was in 2008 when 3 Bali terrorists were executed.
