A flight that should have lasted just 42 minutes has seemingly ended in forever, when the plane and all its content suddenly ‘vanished’ without a trace.
One of the passengers on board the plane is Italian fashion designer Vittorio Missoni, who was vacationing at Los Roques.

Venezuelan authorities stated that the aircraft had enough fuel on board to make a 3 hours flight. There are stipulations that the plane may have had technical problems or was kidnapped mid air.
On theory holds however that the area above the Islas Los Roques is a new and unexplained ‘Bermuda Triangle’ where ships and planes disappear without a trace, never to be found again.
The Guardian reports that since the 1990s at least 15 airplanes have mysteriously disappeared when flying over Los Roques and rescue efforts have been in vain, never finding anything.
In 2008 a plane carrying 14 passengers disappeared in that area. Only the pilot’s body was found. Neither the passengers nor the plane or parts of the plane have ever been recovered.
Los Roques archipelago is a federal dependency of Venezuela consisting of approximately 350 islands, cays, and islets in a total area of 40.61 square kilometers and is located 80 miles (128 km) directly north of the port of La Guaira.
The islands’ pristine coral reef attracts many “high-end” visitors, especially from Europe. Because of the wide variety of seabirds and rich aquatic life, the Venezuelan government declared the Los Roques a National Park in 1972.
