WASHINGTON – A photo beamed down to earth by Mars rover Curiosity is stirring up much ‘curiosity’ with scientists.

Some of them believe the image in the photo is a flower, others are convinced it is a crystal of sorts.

The photo was send down to earth on December 19 2012 but only recently invoked speculations after online surfers commented they saw a flower in the image.
Some scientists believe the object is a crystal because ‘the flower’ seems to be blooming out of solid rock; a nearly non-existing possibility.
Other experts state the object may just be another piece of plastic belonging to the Mars rover. A similar object was spotted in a photo send down to earth in October 2012 and scientists explained the strange object then as ‘a part of Curiosity’.
NASA says it believes the object is simple a part of the rock itself.
Curiosity will begin drilling into that rock next week, six months after it landed on the Red Planet.
