Presently, Apple and Samsung are the two largest producers of smartphones in the world with the latter gradually taking more and more market shares away from Apple.

Strategy Analyst Neil Mawston believes Apple will release a new iPhone Mini in the near future – two to three years from now. Sales of the iPhone 5 are still going strong and Apple isn’t in dire straights to produce a phone affordable to millions who can’t afford an iPhone; at least not yet.

Mawston says he thinks Apple will probably release an iPhone Mini in 2014. But analyst Peter Misek of Jeffries doesn’t see it that way.

He believes that Apple will probably release a cheaper, smaller iPhone version still this summer, with a retail price of about $US250.

But like Mawston, Misek agrees that Apple isn’t in a rush to produce a smaller iPhone version; simply because it doesn’t make sense to bring out a direct competitor against the iPhone 5 which is still enjoying strong sales.
