The horse “Black Caviar” was unbeatable in 2012 but hasn’t done much to quiet down the tempers of Olympic gold medalists Sally Pearson and Anna Meares.

Sally Pearson won gold during the London Olympics at the 100 meters hurdles event while Anna Meares took home the gold in the cycling event.

Yet both women had to content with being passed up for the prestigious title by a horse.

The Daily Telegraph wrote that the two athletes’ performances ‘paled’ in comparison to the achievements of Black Caviar.

Black Caviar won all 22 races it ran; a feat not equaled by any other horse for 100 years.

But Australians weren’t happy with the paper’s choice and other newspapers were quick to print they found the Daily Telegraph’s decision “rather embarrassing”.

Tom Harley, sports commentator for Australian TV, called the choice “an insult to all Australian women who are inspired by sports”.
