Here are six solid ‘healthy’ reasons to pour a few extra shots of alcohol down the hatchet this New Year’s.

1.Alcohol makes you smarter:
“When the wine is in the man, his wisdom is in the can” isn’t exactly true, according to scientists from the University of Illinois. The experts found that people who consumed two beers were 40 percent better at solving problems than those who didn’t drink at all.

The ‘drinker’s could also answer questions 3.5 seconds faster than none-drinkers.

2.Alcohol protects your skin:
Spanish researchers have found that flavonoids found in red wine protects your skin from the sun’s damaging UV rays.

3.Alcohol keeps you trim:
Keeping your figure couldn’t be easier. Scientists from Boston have conducted a 13 year long study and found that women who drink one to two glasses of wine every day have 30 percent less chance to become overweight vs none-drinkers.

The scientist say the reason for the weight loss is caused by alcohol encouraging the body to burn more calories.

4.Alcohol could make you live longer:
A study conducted at Harvard Medical School concludes that wine-drinkers outlive none-drinkers, as well as those consuming beer or liquor.

5.Alcohol prevents lung infections:
A study conducted at the Japan’s Sapporo Medical University proves that the ingredient ‘hop’, which is found in beer, contains the chemical ‘humulone’ which protects the body against the virus that causes lung infections.

6.Alcohol makes your bones stronger:
The Northwestern University conducted a study that found that drinking wine increases the production of estrogen and other hormones, essential to developing strong, healthy bones.

According to University of California, silicium, found in beer, also strengthens human bones.

So celebrate the New Year with an extra glass of wine or two because it really is beneficial ‘to your health’.
