In a statement the NRA said:
“The National Rifle Associations exists of 4 million mothers, fathers, brothers and sisters, and we are shocked, saddened and broken by the news of the gruesome and senseless shooting at Newtown.”
The agency also stated it is “prepared to offer noteworthy contributions” to avoid future massacres like the one in Connecticut on Friday but did not explain what that entails.
The NRA operates under the United States Constitutional 2nd Amendment which gives US citizens the right to bear arms and to protect themselves.
Since the gruesome killings at Sandy Hook Elementary strong opposition against weapons has been forming and President Barack Obama has stated he fully support a new anti-weapons laws that prohibits Americans from owning semi-automatic assault riffles.
But Americans pro weapons say this is not the time to ‘ban’ weapons but to allow US citizens to protect themselves even more.
“Just now weapons are needed more than ever to protect ourselves against evil,” that group claims.
The NRA said it is planning a news conference is about 3 days time.
