A decision signed by an arbitration last week found that Miss Pennsylvania, Sheena Monnin’s comments about the Donald Trump’s owned US Pageantry were false, harmful and malicious.
Sheena Monnin made the defamatory comments on the Today show calling the contest ‘trashy’ and telling host Ann Curry the Pageantry was ‘rigged’.
According to the arbitrator, Ms Monnin objected against the Pageantry’s decision to allow transgender participation and she was disgruntled about not making it past the preliminary rounds.
The arbitrator set the fine at $US5 million because the Pageantry claims that Ms Monnin’s derogatory comments made the agency lose a $US5 million sponsor for 2013.
Sheena Monnin resigned as Miss Pennsylvania USA after the pageant.
