Woman Dies From Cancer After Lung Transplant

The British woman from Hawkwell, had opted to have the transplant surgery after she had already lost her 23 year old brother to the same illness.

Jennifer even postponed her wedding for two years while waiting for the new lungs.

Jennifer finally got her new lungs and the transplant surgery was a success. But in August she passed away, one year after getting married, from lung cancer.

Jennifer Wederell (27) was not told before the operation that her new lungs had come from a 20-cigarettes-a-day smoker.

“Had she know that she would have never agreed to the transplant,” Jennifer’s mourning husband David told the Daily Mail.

A few months after the transplant Jennifer was diagnosed with lung cancer. It was only then that she was told her new lungs had belonged to a smoker.

David Wederell (28) has begun an internet campaign together with Jennifer’s parents to get none-smokers to donate their lungs when they pass away.

Almost 40 per cent of lungs used in during lung transplants come from donors who have smoked.
