(NDJ) – October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, so it’s only fitting we write about how to prevent breast cancer.
According to Dr. Oz Hemmet, breast cancer survival rate has dramatically increased from 75% only 25 years ago to 98% today.
That’s wonderful and hopefully, the day will come, these percentage are obsolete because breast cancer is an illness of the past.
Although there are certain factors that determine your rate of contracting breast cancer, such as family history, your lifestyle, etc.; there are 3 simple things you can do to possibly prevent breast cancer from occurring in the first place.

October is breast cancer awareness month and people wear pink ribbons to show their solidarity
1. Lose the fat:
Obesity is a major contributor to getting breast cancer. Excess body fat makes fat cells come alive which start the production of hormones, including estrogen.
About 80% of breast cancers, once established, rely on supplies of estrogen to grow. Suppression of production of estrogen in the body is a treatment for these cancers. Lower your body weight will lower estrogen production and thus lower your risk of getting breast cancer.
2. Saturated fats:
That means all processed foods. Saturated fats are contributors to generating estrogen and estrogen as you now know (see #1 above), is a major cause of breast cancer.
So, stop eating junk food and start eating healthy. Like:
3. Leafy green vegetable:
The heart may be the ‘pump’ of your body, but your liver is your detoxifier. Everything you eat gets cleansed through your liver. To help your liver detoxify itself add some greens to your daily food consumption.
Veges like broccoli, Brussels sprouts and spinach are excellent sources to help your liver stay clean and healthy.
A healthy liver reducing the formation of toxin in your body which can lead to cancer cells.
There you go, 3 simple, but serious breast cancer prevention steps you can easily incorporate in your daily ‘busy’ life.
According to Dr. Oz, these 3 simple things ‘always work’ in preventing breast cancer. Worth the effort, if you ask us.
