Brubeck and his quartet became world famous with their hit’Take Five‘ written by his saxophonist and his musical partner Paul Desmond.
Brubeck was known for forming ‘interesting’ music concepts in jazz such as using ‘strange’ note measures.
The 1959 Take Five instrumental song, based on five quarts rhythm by Morello, was a prime example of Brubeck’s none-standard musical experimentation.
The song appeared on the innovative album ‘Time Out’ which also contained the immensely popular number ‘Blue Rondo à la Turk‘.
Dave Brubeck wrote symphonies, oratory and ballet music by mixing classical music with jazz, much like George Gershwin had done before him.
Brubeck, who would have been 92 on Thursday, worked together with musical jazz legends Gerry Mulligan and Louis Armstrong.
Dave Brubeck remained active in music most of his life and would still perform on stage well into his later life, together with is sons Darius, Chris, Dan and Matthew.
