SYDNEY – A man stepped on board a Marine patrol boat in Darwin, Northern Australia, and stole several handheld weapons.

According to Australia’s Department of Defense, the thief first overpowered a marine on duty at the boat before stealing the weapons.

The patrol boat belongs to Australia’s HMAS Coonawarra, a marine base in Darwin.

The Defense Department admits there are always weapons stored on board a marine patrol board.

How many weapons the thief took and of what caliber is yet unknown. An investigation is ongoing.
