On November 14th an Arizona resident visiting New York captured a heart warming photo of a New York police officer helping a down and out individual by buying the barefooted man a pair of shoes.

The tourist mailed the photo to the NYPD, which posted the image on their Facebook page on Tuesday.

It was all it took for officer Lawrence DePrimo (25) to become a world sensation. The image has been viewed over 1.5 million times, has been shared 70,000 times and received over 20,000 positive comments.

DePrimo, who works for the NYPD since 2010 and who still lives with his parents in Long Island, opened his heart and his wallet to help out a fellow man living on the streets. He bought the homeless man a brand new pair of shoes.

The officer is as humble as he is kind and generous and doesn’t quite understand why he’s being given so many accolades by so many strangers.

DePrimo doesnt’ think that what he did was all that special: “It was a cold ice day and I could see the blisters on his feet. Even I was cold despite wearing two pairs of socks,” he told The New York Times.

“We started to talk and that’s how I learned his shoe size.”

The officer walked into the shoe store and spend $US75 from his own pocket on a pair of boots for the man.

DePrimo says he doesn’t know where the wanderer is. “I offered him a cup of coffee afterwards but as quickly as he put on the shoes he went his own way. That’s when I returned to my own post.”

Officer DePrimo, should you happen to read this article; from all of us at NDJ World “Happy Holidays and God Bless You and your family many times over. It’s heartwarming to learn their are still people that care even if their jobs make it extremely though to do so!”
