JERUSALEM – A spokesperson for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has declared that Israel is ready for an attack on Gaza by land.

The peace truce that Egyptian premier Mohammed Morsi was talking about only two days ago has all but completely evaporated.

Only if a diplomatic solution guarantees that the Israeli people can live in peace will the ground invasion halt, according to the spokesperson.
“If the diplomacy fails we may have no other alternative but to commence a ground offence,” said the high ranking official.
The Israeli government would agree to a ‘seize fire’ truce, lasting from 24 to 48 hours, which would give them the opportunity to further negotiate a complete withdrawal.
But Hamas says it will only agree to a complete seize fire if Israel stops shooting and removes all the barricades along Gaza strip.
UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon was in Cairo, Egypt to support the country as mediator of peace between Israel and Hamas.
