JERUSALEM – In the morgue of Gaza’s largest hospital lie the bodies of four young children, wrapped in white cloth, covered with blood and dust.

They are the latest fatalities, the innocent victims of a ‘blood-feud’ between two nations they don’t understand and are too young to know anything about. Yet they pay the ultimate price.

A mile from the hospital, bulldozers dig through rubble, trying to find the sister who got trapped and probably killed when the two story house collapsed on her when it was struck with a rocket during a recent Israeli air strike.
Since the fighting between Gaza and Israel began, such scenes have become a daily ‘thing’. Young children, often from the same family, innocent victims of violence, dying too soon, their bodies mangled with concrete and steal, is an image that has become all too real.
Nine members of one family died in this blast – all women and children – along with two neighbors who were walking past the house when the missile hit.
Israel confirms hitting the ‘target’ with the intend to kill Mohamed Dallu, a known Hamas member. Dallu wasn’t home when the missile obliterated his home; his children were – Sara, 7, Jamal, 6, Yusef, 4, and Ibrahim, 2 – they were all killed in the raid.
At the Jabalya Refugee Camp in northern Gaza, another family is also in mourning.
Salam Ibrahim had gathered his wife and two young children close to him on Saturday night, all of them sleeping in the same bed in their house in a tiny residential street; hoping to be safe.
The wall of their house collapsed onto the bed after an early morning F-16 air strike, killing the children, Tamir, 3, and his sister Junah, 2.
Israel claims it is carrying out “surgical strikes” in Gaza and is making every effort to avoid civilian casualties. The nations exclaims its hands are tied.
“When they use civilians as human shields, we have no choice,” said Moshe Yaalon, Israel’s Minister for Strategic Affairs. “If they position rockets in densely populated areas, such as mosques and schoolyards, we should not be blamed for the outcome.”
Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, said the IDF (Israel Defence Forces) has attacked over 1000 terrorist targets in the Gaza Strip and it is continuing its operations; even prepared for a significant expansion of the operation.
As of Sunday night, the toll for five days of fire is 90 Palestinians and three Israelis.
