NEW YORK – 34 year old Adis Medunjanin was sentenced to life imprisonment of Friday. He was convicted of planning to commit a suicide bombing in one of the New York’s metro stations in 2009.

Adis Medunjanin is an American from Bosnian decent and is according to the United States a member of al-Qaeda.

In May he was convicted in a Brooklyn court for planning to use weapons of mass destruction and conspiracy of terrorism.
Federal prosecutor Loretta Lynch said ‘this was one of the greatest terrorism threats since September 11′.
Medunjanin and his two co-conspirators were arrested just a few days before they had planned to bomb New York.
The two-conspirators served as witnesses against Medunjanin. They are still awaiting their sentencing.
The American court states that the trio had planned the attack by request of leaders of al-Qaeda in Pakistan.
