PERU – Joran Van der Sloot, the infamous dutch young man, has confessed to his extortion attempts of the Holloway family.
He first gained notoriety with the disappearance of Alabama teen Natalee Holloway in Aruba on May 30 2005, and has been charged with the murder of 21 year old Peruvian woman Stephanie Flores Ramirez on May 30 2010.
Says Van der Sloot in a interview published in Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf:
“I wanted to get back at Natalee’s family – her parents have been making my life tough for five years. When they offered to pay for the girl’s location, I thought: ‘Why not’?”
Joran Van der Sloot admits to money extortion from Holloway family.
According to US prosecutors, Natalee’s mother first sent $10,000 in cash to Van der Sloot through an FBI witness, followed by a wire transfer of $15,000 directly to Van der Sloot’s bank account in the Netherlands. He took the money and flew to Latin America.
It’s there, exactly 5 years after Natalee Holloway’s disappearance that Van der Sloot stands accused for the murder of Stephanie Flores.
Van der Sloot had initially confessed to killing Flores to Peruvian police, but later said he only did so because he was intimidated and had been promised he would be extradited to the Netherlands.
Van der Sloot currently spends his days in a Peruvian jail awaiting trial.
