(NDJ) – A strong earthquake hit New Zeeland early morning waking up residents to a devastating rattle.
The 7.2 earthquake struck at 4:35 A.M. – New Zeeland time, Saturday morning, about 4 miles southeast of Christchurch, the second largest city in New Zeeland. There have also been strong aftershocks and power outages reported in the city.
That the quake shook residents to their core is evident by Twitter posts from a few trembling New Zeelanders:
@mojomathers: OMG! That was a freakin big earthquake. Stuff broken. Ongoin aftershocks. Hope everyone ok

7.2 Earthquake reported in Christchurch New-Zeeland
How much damage the earthquake brought on, if any, hasn’t yet been revealed, although YouTube videos are being uploaded showing a lot of interior damage to local businesses.
