AMSTERDAM – A recent study about which animals are best suited to serve as house pets, the most common of them all, the dog, didn’t make the list.

According to the study, a dog is just like his distant relative, the wolf, and must roam in packs. What’s more, a dog needs a large area to roam in freely and an apartment of house alone just isn’t big enough.
The research suggests that a backyard that measures at the very least 660 square feet is the absolute minimum space a dog needs to run.
Researchers state that of the 5,500 animals they checked for making a good house pet, 5,492 of them do not qualify.
What are the animals that are good house pets?
According to the research which was conducted by the University of Wageneningen, the Netherlands, suited house pets are: a mouse, a fret, a serval (a type of cat), a squirrel or a hog deer but not a dog.
