The court wants to review the Van der Sloot’s case in Peru based on his assessment that his rights were violated numerous times during his trial.

According to the Peruvian paper ‘ El Commercio’ Van der Sloot’s lawyer has requested for the investigation because he believes his client’s trial should be redone.

Van der Sloot’s lawyer, Máximo Altez, says his client’s rights to an honest and fair trial have been violated. Allegedly, Chilean authorities did not extradite Joran Van der Sloot to Peru under proper guidelines.

Joran Van der Sloot was also denied an interpreter.

The Human Rights court has accepted Van der Sloot’s request.

“I am certain we will win,” Altez said on Monday, who filled the request for an investigation several months ago.

Joran Van der Sloot has been sentenced to 28 years behind bars and a fine of $US65,000 for the murder of Stephanie Flores, on May 30th 2010, in a hotel room in Lima, Peru.

He is also suspected to having ‘something’ to do with the disappearance of 18 year old American student Natalee Holloway in Aruba, in 2005.
