In the central-African country of Chad, a delegate who was appointed to oversee and stop the large scale corruption, has been fired after he himself was caught participating in fraudulent activities.
Chad, one of the poorest nations on the planet, is often in the news over large scale corruption scandals.
President Deby, who runs the country since 1990, had appointed Ahmadaye al Hassan to control corruption and stop the many fraudulent activities in their tracks.
On Monday al Hassan was terminated from his position after it came to light that he had “mis-allocated” several hundred thousand dollars that were assigned just for the purpose of preventing corruption.al Hassan maintains however he didn’t do anything wrong or fraudulent and insists he used the money appropriately. That appropriation included a luxury life-style, that al Hassan said he was entitled to as Director of the anti-corruption department.
Several of al Hassan’s former staff were already terminated earlier for being involved with fraudulent undertakings while working for the former director.
Yet another high-ranking Chad official was arrested this weekend for his part in a major corruption scandal.
