TOKYO – A British Airways steward will have plenty of time on his hands to think about the message he scribbled on one of the bathroom doors on board a Boeing 777 on route from Tokyo to London.
“The bomb on board will explode at 16.00 GMT unless our demands are met”
That was the alarming text 22 year old Matthew Davis wrote on one of the bathroom doors with a felt-pen, causing great panic amongst the 150 passengers on board British Airways flight.
One of Davis’ colleagues discovered the message, notified the pilot, who notified the ground authorities. Davis was arrested and taken into custody once the plane had landed.

The plane landed without incident at Heathrow Airport in London. British Airways company immediately terminated Davis from his steward position and he will never be able to work for the airline carrier again.
Police and bomb experts search the entire Boeing 777 but did not find a bomb or any other explosive devices.
Matthew Davis is kept behind bars accused of making a ‘false’ bomb threat. He’ll get his chance to explain why he did this in a London court next month.
