LAS VEGAS – The Heart Attack Grill in Las Vegas famous for its ‘triple bypass’ or ‘coronary’ burgers, lived up to its name when a visitor got a heart attack while eating one of those ‘killer’ burgers.
According to Jon Basso, owner of the grill, a man ordered a ‘triple bypass burger’. After taking a few bites, he began to sweat profusely, started to shake and had difficulty speaking. The man complained about pain in the middle of his chest.
Basso ordered an employee to call 911 immediately. Paramedics took the man to a nearby hospital where he was diagnosed with having suffered a heart attack. He is no longer in critical condition.

“Tourists took pictures of the man as if it was some sort of stunt. We did not want this negative publicity,” says Basso.
So what’s a Triple Bypass Burger made of?
700 grams beef and 10 slices of crisp bacon coated with a heavy scoop of greasy sauce. A burger for diehards.
The ‘Heart Attack Grill’ has been in downtown Las Vegas since last year. It specializes in serving food dishes that are typically over 8,000 calories and individuals weighing more than 350 pounds are given a free sampler.
Waitresses at the grill are dressed up like nurses and customers are called ‘patients’. A meal order is called a ‘prescription’ and at the front door hangs a large sign that warns diners to ‘pay in cash because they may die before their check clears the bank’.

In the case of this unidentified ‘patient’, that statement almost became a reality.
