No More iPads In China

BEIJING – In China all iPads are removed from retail stores because of an ongoing legal dispute with Apple Inc., the maker of the tablet.

Reportedly, the brand name ‘iPad’ does not belong to Apple in China but to the Chinese technology company Proview Technology.

Already last year a judge ruled that Proview Technology owns the trade name iPad in China.

Therefore, the Chinese government has decided to impound all iPads sold in retail stores and electronic markets. The ruling is a result of the legal suit filed by Proview Technologly against Apple Inc.

Apple has taken the matter to a higher court.

Chinese retailers and electronics vendors are trying desperately to prevent the government from enacting the ruling and actually remove all iPads from retail and electronic outlets by moving the tablets to warehouses.

The result has been that the Chinese government has only been able to impound a small number of iPads.

Proview Technology isn’t looking however to prevent the sales for its trade name iPad tablet. Instead the company wants to be awarded a multi-billion dollar damage control settlement from Apple Inc.
