NEW YORK – Since 3:10PM ET Friday, the United States Counter Intelligence Agency (CIA) site has been off line. The collective hacking group Anonymous has claimed responsibility for downing the website.
One of the hacker’s Twitter account read this message:
“cia.gov DOWN. #UMAD?#Anonymous.” and “We do it for the lulz”

In recent weeks Anonymous has managed to down such noted sites as FBI, Scotland Yard, the Greek Justice Department, news media CBS and music conglomerate Warner Music and on Friday the CIA.
The Polish government has been attacked as well because it introduced a law pro internet censorship.
The CIA site was obviously not prepared for a hacking attack. Several hours after the invasion took place, the site is still not accessible.
Interestingly enough this is not the first time the CIA site has been victimized by hackers. In June 2011, Anonymous managed to down the CIA website for several hours as part of a ’51 day long hackaton’.
Internet site hacking has sprung in high gear after American congress announced its consideration to turn the SOPA and PIPA (internet censuring and copyright bills) into law.
Only because of a world wide protest that consisted of intentionally downing major internet sites, such as Wikipedia.org, the bills never passed.
