Sony To Liquidate Playstation?

TOKYO – As of Tuesday February 7 2012, the Playstation Network member accounts do no longer exist. Sony transferred all Playstation users over to its Sony Entertainment Network, thus housing all of Sony’s network options under the same account.

Experts believe that this is Sony’s first step in phasing out its Playstation operation and that the name itself may eventually completely disappear.

After its latest hacking fiasco, that hundreds of thousands of its users information vulnerable and forced Sony to shutdown the Playstation network for over one month, the company, according to the Huffington Post, wants to get rid off Playstation.

Those who sign in at the Playstation network on Tuesday are presented with a new user agreement. Sony insists that no changes have been made in users’ privacy issues and that all passwords and usernames are still the same.

“The change was necessary to incorporate all of Sony’s services, such as games, movies and music services, in one manageable network,” said Sony in a news bulletin.

Kaz Hirai, Sony’s newest top man, said their will not be a new Playstation 4 this year. Once again, experts believe that the carefully chosen words do not refrain Sony from releasing a new game console under another name.
