MIAMI – A multi millionaire Florida man asked the court to grant him the permission to adopt his girlfriend and make her his ‘daughter’.
The Florida court approved the man’s request and now 42 year old Heather Laruso Hutchins is officially and legally 48 year old John Goodman’s daughter.
Goodman, who is worth a small fortune, resorted to this odd legal maneuver to protect his millions from being possibly taken away.
In 2010, Goodman got involved in a deadly accident that killed 23 year old Scott Patrick Wilson. Goodman was accused of drunk driving and the Wilson family has filed a lawsuit against him and stands to be awarded millions.
To prevent the Wilson’s from getting ‘his money’, Goodman transferred a large portion of his wealth over to his children. And although the Wilson family now can’t touch that money, the problem with the transfer is that Goodman’s children, who are still minors, can’t touch the money either until they are 35 years old.

To solve that problem, Goodman ‘turned his girlfriend into his daughter’, legally. Since she is an adult and now legally Goodman’s ‘daughter’, she can access the money without violating any laws.
For the shrewd Goodman there is however one other problem he says he faces:
He isn’t sure if can still have sex with his ‘new daughter’ legally.
