TORONTO – A plane belonging to Canadian Airlines was delayed by four hours, passengers had to be evacuated and panels inside the plane had to be removed, all because Ripples the cat had escaped from her carrying cage.
After Ripples,a 10 year American Alley cat, was brought on board the Canadian Airlines flight 603 destination Toronto, she managed to escaped from her cage because only one of the latches was properly locked.
As cats often do, Ripples went on an ‘exploratory mission’ throughout the plane. And despite passengers’ best efforts to catch the agile cat, Ripples managed to sneak into the cockpit, passed undetected by the pilots’ feet and hid herself inside one of the plane’s panels.

Maintenance and security personnel had to be called in to remove Ripples from behind the panels but that didn’t happen until all passengers were evacuated, panels were removed from the cockpit and wires were checked to make sure the ‘nosy’ cat didn’t damage them.
The entire ‘cat affair’ took just about four hours before Ripples was finally back in her cage. This time, Canadian Airlines personnel ensured themselves both latches were properly locked before passengers could re-board the plane and flight 603 became finally air-bound.
Canadian Airlines wasn’t readily available to comment on the incident that caused passengers to be delayed by four hours and required an entire aircraft to be reinspected for safety, all because of a ‘careless’ oversight.
